Job Description

SPEAR, A CALIBRE Company is seeking a Senior Technician to join our team in Jeffersonville, IN! The Senior Technician, under the general direction and supervision of the Vice President, Technical Solutions, will be responsible for the following:

  • Builds, tests, diagnoses, and repairs and may modify systems such as PCs and peripheral equipment.
  • Assists the Deputy Project Manager in coordinating the functions and prioritizing the work in the contract.
  • Utilizes and may modify software routines for test or monitoring purposes.
  • Trains other staff in Electronic Repairs operations.
  • Coordinates work with other areas and vendors as needed.
  • Coordinates work with other personnel and vendors as needed. 
  • Assists Quality Manager with quality audits. 
  • Provides technical assistance and support to Logistics staff as required.
  • Organizes, and directs repair and maintenance activities, as backup to the Vice President, Technical Solutions
  • Diagnoses, repairs, and performs routine maintenance on all equipment returned, including PCs, and other peripheral equipment; tests and repairs all field repairable assemblies.
  • Loads and utilizes software routines for test or monitoring purposes; performs scripted image loading.
  • Provides advanced hardware technical assistance and support; troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software, and communications failures and conflicts.
  • Reads electronic schematics and diagrams, as well as technical manuals and flowcharts.
  • Works on moderately complex work orders with normal or critical deadlines.
  • Checks functioning of repaired equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Assists in the training of other staff in the operations and may oversee assigned staff.
  • Interfaces with departmental staff when required to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Tests and verifies all PC board field failures and assists in determining causes of failed parts or equipment.
  • Maintains technical documentation library as required.
  • Diagnoses, identifies and provides best cost remediation of customer equipment
  • Maintains neat and organized work areas. Assists in maintaining neat and clean test bed area.
  • Repairs IT equipment.
  • Maintains a high level quality of customer service standards in dealing with and responding to questions.
  • Interfaces with vendors for pricing, specifications, and Warranty issues.
  • Provides assistance and technical support to subcontractors and TAMs as directed.

Required Skills

  • A+ certification is required.
  • MCP Preferred
  • Dell OEM certifications preferred.
  • Associate degree in electronics or equivalent certificate from a technical or trade school, or other equivalent training and work experience. 
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience, demonstrating familiarity with a broad range of electronic equipment.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and develop graphic and/or written interpretations.
  • Knowledge of Depot operations and/or procedures.
  • Excellent customer service orientation, both with internal personnel and external customers.
  • Proficiency in the use of digital equipment, such as oscilloscopes and voltmeters.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good command of the English language and excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
