Job Description

CALIBRE, an employee-owned Management and Technology Solutions company is looking for a Database Manager/Administrator to join our dynamic team! The candidate will serves as the Lead Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL), and is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, administration and maintenance support of database applications on transportation financial, shipping, and billing systems. The candidate should be able to provide a progressive development strategy, database structures, database availability accessibility and accountability. The database will analyze data collected from various DoD systems, perform operational and financial internal controls to provide daily and ad-hoc reports.

Duties include:

  • Performs guidance and oversight of database administration, database performance, tuning, security, maintaining, troubleshooting all activities related to database.
  • Best-practices and standards to implement and maintain a database.
  • Prioritizes plans and manages complex database projects.
  • Translates user requirements into production.
  • Plans and designs database architectures.
  • SQL database optimization, query optimization and troubleshooting, database clustering, database reporting.
  • Create database objects to include tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers and rules.
  • Records and maintains database structure documentation.
  • Directs the design and implementation of customized data requirements.
  • Provides technical assistance to both developmental and technical staff in database system integration.
  • Ensures the completion of assigned projects as scheduled and meets established requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience with DoD financial management resource systems
  • Expert in Microsoft SQL administration and support.
  • Mastery understanding of and skill in database capacity planning, and performance
  • Expert in SQL DBMS (features, functions and utilities).
  • Skill in database design, reporting, development, migration.
  • Knowledge of functional and technical specification development. Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and to work independently. Skills in analytical and problem-solving.
  • Skill in documentation and diagramming.
  • Have a working knowledge of DoD transportation process and procedures is preferable
  • Must have or be able to obtain Secret clearance.
  • Working knowledge of DOD personnel and financial databases and process.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and multi-task.
  • Proficient oral and written communications skills.
  • Proficient organizational and customer service skills.
  • Proficient and experience in managing large databases
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite; strong MS Excel skills highly preferred
  • Experience with Visual Basic, SQL program language
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred. Master's Degree in related field strongly preferred. (Other education, commensurate experience and demonstrated ability of individual may be substituted.)
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in the related field.
