Job Description

CALIBRE Systems, Inc., an employee-owned Management Consulting and Digital Transformation company, is seeking a Proposal Manager.

In this role, the candidate will assist with/lead development of proposal content in response to solicitations/Request for Proposals (RFPs) from Department of Defense (DoD), as well as other Federal, State, and commercial clients. The candidate will review content developed by subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure compliance to RFP requirements and consistency across required RFP volumes (past performance, resumes, management, and technical). Candidates must be capable of benchmarking previous solutions, developing responsive proposal templates, and inserting corporate reusable content as a baseline for RFP responses. The candidate will lead proposal revisions to improve clarity, grammar, punctuation, spelling, readability, style, and agreement with corporate style guides. The ideal candidate will possess proofreading skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to handle fast-paced/stressful situations. The candidate will also demonstrate dependability and exceptional customer service skills.

Required Skills

  • Write persuasively and articulately
  • Write and edit proposals for readability, consistency, and appropriate tone
  • Analyze proposal content for relevancy of past performance to RFP requirements
  • Review, analyze, and interpret RFP/RFQ/RFIs to determine writing requirements and organization of content
  • Receive and administratively track new editing/writing request assignments using SharePoint
  • Serve as lead editor and one voice/consistency writer
  • Communicate with/interview SMEs to solicit information to improve written proposal
  • Edit proposal narratives, correcting grammar, passive voice, and consistency to support ease of readability
  • Manage time proactively to plan for unforeseen short term assignments
  • Demonstrate excellent professionalism and customer service skills
  • Research and gather relevant information from SMEs for use in proposal writing
  • Develop, edit, and ensure proposals address customer hot buttons; solution, approach, and/or team features and benefits; and win themes
  • Write and edit proposal and marketing content for grammar, punctuation, readability, and persuasiveness
  • Lead or support multiple proposals in the same timeframe
  • Create a positive work environment, demonstrate a professional attitude, and meet established goals and responsibilities while working in cooperation with colleagues

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years proven successful experience editing, writing, and coordinating responses to DoD and Federal RFPs of moderate to high complexity
  • Experience in managing multiple editing/writing assignments
  • Experience working with proposal teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment supporting critical business development activities
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project/proposal management skills
  • Ability to use standard English writing styles and structures to write proposal sections; this includes the ability to research and synthesize information from multiple sources (subject matter experts, previous proposals) into a cohesive, easy-to-read, and persuasive final product
  • Able to balance multiple projects and work to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and under tight deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate/lead proposal teams and individuals with varying working styles
  • Ability to work overtime often with limited advance notice 
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint
