Job Description

CALIBRE, an employee-owned Management Consulting and Technology Services company, is seeking an experienced Software Business Analyst (BA) to join our growing workforce of IT professionals. The Business Analyst is primarily focused on analyzing customer objectives and defining requirements, translating them into business solutions via development, and creating supporting technical documentation.  Candidates will interact with customers through the entire application development life cycle, from initial needs assessment to post implementation support and must have demonstrable skills in writing use cases/user stories, functional/technical specifications, requirement documents, as well as software testing skills including planning, execution, and reporting.  Some of the specific requirements include:

  • Eliciting requirements via mock-ups, story boards, and other tools and techniques.

  • Translating system/functional requirements into clearly defined and documented work packages that are then passed to Application Developers.

  • Understanding both technical designs and specifications.



Required Skills
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a business analyst. Usability/user experience expertise a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrable skills in writing use cases/user stories, functional/technical specifications, and requirement documents.
  • Experience and proficiency in preparing planning documents and written reports.
  • Ability to produce high quality requirement specifications to support ERP functional design development.
  • Ability to write detailed functional test plans to ensure system changes work properly, existing processes remain unaffected, and the needs of the users are met.
  • Experience with creating scripts for training all internal users, support personnel, and external customers on ERP system changes and new procedures.
  • Experience with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Experience with mock-ups, storyboarding, and wire-framing tools like Wireframe Sketcher.
  • Experience with Requirements documenting tools like Enterprise Architect.
  • Strong working experience in Team Foundation Server (TFS), MS Visio, and MS SharePoint.
  • Extensive experience using tools to elicit and define system requirements.
  • Change management experience and ability to differentiate between bug fixes and change requests.
  • Familiarity with reporting and testing tools, including Team Foundation Server, Quality Center, advanced SQL usage and SharePoint.
  • MS SharePoint technical knowledge and understanding of computer programming.
  • Ability to think logically and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and collaborate well with a technologically diverse stakeholder group.
  • Ability to take charge of tasks (including development of level of effort) and work with limited supervision.


Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. (Other education, commensurate experience and demonstrated ability of individual may be substituted.)
