Job Description

CALIBRE, an employee-owned Management Consulting and Information Technology Solutions Company, is looking for qualified individual(s) to serve as Instructor/Facilitator(s) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) at the Army Force Management School (AFMS).

The Instructor/Facilitator’s primary topic of instruction/facilitation/expertise is a minimum of one of the five functional areas:

  1. Strategy
  2. Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE)
  3. Force Management including Force Integration, Force Development, Force Modernization, and Global Force Management
  4. Capability Development
  5. Materiel Development
  6. The Instructor/Facilitator’s duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Present instruction/facilitation for all AFMS courses in accordance with the principles and delivery techniques of the Army Learning Concept for Training and Education (ALC-TE).
  • Serve as an AFMS SME in your respective functional area(s).
  • Prepare lesson plans and other courseware (POIs, student handouts, slide decks, training aids, etc.).
  • Coordinate reviews of AFMS course content by external authorities and conduct reviews of other learning institutions’ curriculum for accuracy and currency.
  • Provide mentorship for students and graduates of the AFMS.
  • Write and coordinate assigned chapters for the How The Army Runs (HTAR) Senior Leader Reference Handbook.
  • Write and maintain assigned chapters/sections for the AFMS Academic Standing Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Prepare papers and briefings as required.
  • Serve as Course Director for courses assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able and willing to plan, coordinate, integrate, and prepare staffing actions at the high-quality standard of HQDA.
  • Must be an expert in a minimum of one of the How The Army Runs (HTAR) functions: Strategy, PPBE, Force Management, Capability Development, or Materiel Development.
  • Must be proficient at facilitation of a training and education session.
  • Ability to work in team settings, communicate, and collaborate with multiple organizations.
  • Excellent oral communications skills.
  • Excellent written communications skills with the ability to write papers and to grade written papers.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to complete tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, multi-task, and prioritize to meet multiple consecutive deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Blackboard and the MS Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
Required Experience
  • Must have a SECRET security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Masters Degree in either the Arts or Science fields.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Graduate of the four-week How the Army Runs Course, formerly the Army Force Management Course or Advanced Force Management Course.
  • Graduate of CGSC or ILE if former military officer, commensurate Professional Military Education if former military Warrant, Enlisted, or Civil Service.

Required Experience

  • Army Staff Badge.
  • Two-years experience conducting HQDA staffing actions.
  • Five-years experience in support of HQDA or Army commands performing a minimum of one of the How The Army Runs (HTAR) functions consisting of Strategy, PPBE, Force Management, Capability Development, and Materiel Development.

(Other education, commensurate experience and demonstrated ability of individual may be substituted.)
