Job Description

CALIBRE, an employee-owned Management Consulting and Information Technology Solutions Company, is looking for a GFT Simulation Support Specialist provides operational, analytical, and technical expertise to scenario development, class, exercise, and experiment planning, and execution of training exercises and experiments in support of the TRADOC TCM-ITS and US Army Centers of Excellence (CoE), Schools, and education Institutions. The GFT Simulation Support Specialist uses the GFT Training computer simulations and automated systems to develop and conduct simulation enabled training and analyze complex problems. The GFT Simulation Support Specialist provides technical and operational advice to support GFT simulation capability development and employment. The GFT Simulation Support Specialist assists with the planning, design, and evaluation of various components of GFT. The GFT Simulation Support Specialist acts as the functional or technical expert on the GFT simulation suite of systems, including systems analysis and software programming necessary to resolve complex simulation/stimulation issues.

  • Provide the client with expert advice on all modeling aspect of GFT.
  • Provide GFT database design, administration, and maintenance.
  • Analyze GFT operation and interaction with all other simulations in the Live Virtual, and constructive Integrating Architecture (LVC-IA).
  • Developing and executing functional vignettes for BDE test events and planning and executing OREs.
  • Conduct and manage database design and maintenance.
  • Supports the installation, transition, sets-up, operation, and hardware/software maintenance for the GFT simulation systems and supporting simulations drivers.
  • Assists the Government’s Lead Action Officer and/or the Senior Operations Analyst(s) in the development of exercise scenario products.
  • Analyzes hardware, software, scenario stimulation, data collection, and after action review (AAR) requirements necessary to meet event and commander’s objectives.
  • Supports software testing, analysis, troubleshooting, and Problem Tracking and Reporting (PTR) documentation and simulation systems analysis and management.
  • Supports Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) activities and GFTF software development.
  • Supports hardware and software installation, networking, and operation; this includes responding to hardware and software problems, applying network security necessary to operate GFT simulation models, collecting data, and analyzing results.
  • Identifies deficiencies and performance gaps in exercise and training programs; provides AAR inputs, training and operational assessments, and lessons learned recommendations.
  • Apply understanding of military doctrine and techniques to a simulation-enhanced training environment.
  • Attends training, seminars, conferences, exercise/experiment planning events, site surveys, and training events to enhance products and services relevancy to the operational training requirements.
  • Prepares insight papers based on training and exercise trends observed; develops reports, briefings, and recommendations to improve exercise design and execution.

Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Possesses and maintains an active SECRET clearance.


  • Four (4) years of experience with military GFT training simulations, specifically VBS2 or VBS3.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Army organizations and or Army GFT models and simulations.
  • Experience in providing technical and operational advice to support GFT simulation capability development and employment.
  • Experience in GFT capability development, VV&A, and user support.
  • Experience in GFT operation and interaction with all other simulation systems in the live, Virtual, and constructive Integrating Architecture (LVC-IA).
  • Experience developing and executing functional vignettes for BDE test events and planning and executing OREs.
  • Expertise with VBS3 linkages and interaction with all other GFT such as the Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and Mission Command Systems.
  • Experience in database design and maintenance; knowledge of GFT database administration.
  • Experience controlling large-scale simulation federations and operations in a fixed or temporary simulation centers.
  • Experience using entity GFT simulations and virtual simulations for military brigade and below training.
  • Experience in software testing, analysis, troubleshooting, PTR writing, analyzing, and management.
  • Experience with encrypted Local Area Network and Wide Area Network Operations.
  • Knowledge of High Level Architecture, Distributed Interactive Simulation, and Test Enabling Architecture interoperability; familiarity with Simulation Object Model and Federation Object Model Development.
  • knowledge in all aspects of Corps through Soldier level operations.
  • knowledge in all aspects of GFT – technical, functional, and database.
  • Knowledge of the processes and procedures related to supporting National Simulation Center or Mission Training Complex events.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor ’s degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school in a technical discipline. Six (6) years’ experience with low overhead simulations may be substituted on a case-by-case basis (Other education, commensurate experience and demonstrated ability of individual may be substituted).
  • Possesses DoD 8570 IAT II certification: CompTIA Security+ or higher Information Assurance certification.
