Job Description

CALIBRE, an employee-owned Management Consulting and Information Technology Solutions Company, is looking for an ALOTT/DXTERS/GFT Database Manager is the technical subject matter expert in the deployment and integration of gaming technologies, simulation systems, and Army Mission Command systems in support of the TRADOC TCM-ITS and US Army Centers of Excellence (CoE), Schools, and education Institutions. The ALOTT/DXTERS/GFT Database Manager acts as the functional or technical expert on the ALOTT, DXTERS, and Games for training (GFT) simulation systems, including systems analysis and software programming necessary to resolve complex simulation/stimulation issues. The ALOTT/DXTERS/GFT Database Manager provides operational, analytical, and technical expertise to scenario development, class and exercise planning, and execution of simulation enabled training and is responsible for the design, installation, optimization, and administration of simulation databases. The ALOTT/DXTERS/GFT Database Manager research’s, plans, designs, and implements the task organization and scenario for the entire training architecture, both simulations and mission command systems (MCS).

  • Coordinates all aspects of simulation database administration services, configuration management; develop conceptual frameworks, and apply state-of-the-art technology to the management and administration of enterprise data assets.
  • Build, edits, manage, and coordinate the simulation/federation parametric and unit database to ensure the simulation/federation performs correctly. Map Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) entities in the constructive simulations to insure a seamless integration into a GFT training and MCS.
  • Provides class, exercise, and event execution support and assistance, including conducting an analysis, review, and assessment of key performance parameters and coordinating with the appropriate system architects/engineers to resolve any issues or troubleshoot M&S tools being used and provide resolutions.
  • Performs functional analyses to understand customers’ training needs and functional requirements.
  • Develops proposals, specifications, and recommendations for efficient, cost-effective technology solutions for database management and scenario development to meet the customer’s requirements.
  • Conducts terrain database in response to requirements generated by any users, federated changes, and doctrinal changes.
  • Evaluates databases for changes that significantly alter previous simulation results during integration events.
  • Performs database troubleshooting and tuning to resolve complex systems, data management, communication, and interoperating problems.
  • Conducts database architecture reviews and participates in code reviews with development teams providing insight for leveraging database capabilities.
  • Implements procedures to control access and allocation of data and maintains security controls; maintains database definitions and documentation.
  • Monitors and applies knowledge of advanced database design to optimize database performance and guide team in implementation of best practices in database maintenance and administration.
  • Implements, configures, and troubleshoots database instances, replication, backup, partitions, storage, and access; sets user privileges within the database environment.
  • Monitors and analyzes existing database infrastructure, proposes design changes, and implements improvements.
  • Monitors database performance, capacity, availability, and security and forecasts growth requirements and makes appropriate adjustments to accommodate capacity requirements.
  • Participates in process to refine and implement database design standards across organization's computing platforms, including naming conventions, performance metrics, patch management, backups, and tools.

Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Possesses and maintains an active SECRET clearance.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Four (4) years’ experience in unit and scenario design, development, and end-to-end mappings/connecting in support of the entire training architecture for ALOTT/DXTRS and GFT.
  • Four (4) years relevant work experience with MySQL, MS SQL, and Oracle databases on Windows platforms.; experience with database design, administration, maintenance, and security.
  • Experience creating computer graphics and design technologies to develop web designs, printed media, and news and video based publications.
  • Experience in providing technical advice for ALOTT/DXTRS and GFT development and hardware and software maintenance as it relates to the LVC-G Training Environment.
  • Experience with database interaction with training and information systems such as the Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), Maneuver Network (MANNET), ALOTT/DXTRS, and VBS3.
  • Experience providing advice on training event design simulation use to support ALOTT, GFT, or JLCCTC capability development.
  • Experience with low overhead capability development, Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VVA), and user support.
  • Knowledge of relational database theory, design rules, and development practices, including data modeling, data flow, entity relationship analysis, data structure analysis, logical and physical database design, data access methods, storage capacity management, and database recovery techniques.
  • Knowledge of database management systems and software, including architectures, diagnostic tools, commands, and utilities.
  • Knowledge of the processes and procedures related to supporting large scale simulation federations, National Simulation Center events, and Mission Training Complex operations.
  • Experience in military doctrine, training management, and capability development.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver technical and non-technical information and instructional briefings and other training to team members and government personnel.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Management, or related technical discipline. Four (4) years of constructive, low overhead, and gaming simulation experience will be considered In lieu of a Bachelor degree (Other education, commensurate experience and demonstrated ability of individual may be substituted).
  • Possesses DoD 8570 IAT II certification: CompTIA Security+ or higher Information Assurance certification.
