Job Description

CALIBRE, an employee-owned Management Consulting and Information Technology Solutions Company, is seeking an Auto Body Instructor that organizes and delivers training consistent with course content, objectives and delivery strategy. The suite of courses consists of cosmetic and structural repair of aluminum and steel vehicles, as well as student competency testing. Note that refinishing is not encompassed in these courses. Ability to deliver the suite of courses is developed through the auditing of classes.

Instructor will typically be a site lead for all other CALIBRE Auto Body Instructors at his/her relevant location. The Instructor is responsible for the following:

  • General oversight of instructors; timeliness of attendance, proper preparation, and delivery of courses in alignment with the training schedule. Any concerns with personnel and/or facility are to be communicated to the relevant Project Manager for actioning.
  • Maintaining courses through regular validation testing of workshop activities.
  • Maintaining up-to-date of subject knowledge through the review of Technical Service Bulletins and other relevant documents.
  • For each course, the instructor is ultimately responsible for all classroom, workshop and vehicle setup, as well as takedown/restaging following the conclusion of the course.
  • Updating course documentation on a continuous basis to ensure timeliness and relevance, maintains technical resource library, and keeps records of training activities.
  • Co-teaching/mentoring of Level II Instructors.

Required Skills

Automotive body repair skills; acquired through experience at retailer or independent automotive body repair facility or through a Technical College or similar training program. Skill sets to include:

    • Panel beating
    • Paintless dent removal
    • Glue tab dent removal
    • MAG welding (steel)
    • MIG welding (steel and aluminum)
    • Resistance welding
    • Structural adhesives & rivets
  • Computing skills; MS Word, MS PowerPoint & MS Excel
  • Must have, or be able to obtain a passport (very limited international travel)
  • Good verbal communications
  • Coaching/Mentoring

Essential Functions:

  • Instructs technicians through the delivery of client-developed curriculum
  • Handles hazardous materials safely
  • Drives/operates vehicles
  • Carries up to 100 lbs, pro-longed standing

Required Experience

Body and Collision Experience:

  • Must have experience with delivering Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or major vocational technical school body and collision training. 
  • Must demonstrate experience in delivering technical training instruction consistent with course content, objectives and delivery strategies.
  • Must demonstrate related instructor experience in a formal small-group classroom / workshop training environment. 
  • Must be experienced in all aspect of classroom, workshop and vehicle setup, as well as takedown/restaging following the conclusion of the course.
  • Must demonstrate experience in course documentation, records maintenance, and testing / certification record keeping.
  • Must demonstrate expert level proficiency in all aspects of body and collision panel welding, repair, and fabrication, to include the application of specialized tools and the use of a wide range of specialized metals, glass, and composite materials. 
  • Must be experienced in shop safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and the handling of hazardous materials in a workshop environment.

Preferred Education and Certifications:

  • Automotive Body Certification from an accredited college/trade school or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred Certification: Instructor Facilitation Training
  • Preferred Certification: ASE Certified in B3-B6
