Solutions Architect/Technical Account Manager

Alexandria, Virginia

Job ID: 5562

CALIBRE Systems, Inc. is seeking a Solutions Architect / Technical Account Manager to provide enterprise solutioning support across the Federal, Civil & Commercial (FCC) Division.  Reporting to CALIBRE’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this role will shape and architect solutions for complex federal and commercial pursuits involving data platforms, artificial intelligence, cloud integration, digital infrastructure, and modern application environments. The position bridges business development, capture, technical solutioning, and client engagement—translating mission needs into integrated, executable solutions that combine CALIBRE services with strategic technology and teaming partner capabilities.

The ideal candidate is a broad enterprise technologist rather than a single-product specialist: someone comfortable connecting infrastructure, cloud, data, AI, security, and operations into a coherent architecture. Candidates from cloud integration, enterprise architecture, data/platform integration, or infrastructure modernization backgrounds are strongly encouraged. Working knowledge of VMware and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is important, but deep VMware specialization is not required when the candidate brings strong adjacent infrastructure and cloud-integration experience.

Salary range:  $185k-$200k

Required Skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Account Management & Client Engagement

·   Serve as a senior technical advisor to selected FCC customers and strategic accounts, maintaining awareness of current architecture, technical priorities, modernization roadmaps, and emerging needs.

·   Lead technical discovery sessions, whiteboarding, solution workshops, demonstrations, and architecture reviews with government and commercial customers.

·   Translate technical conversations into actionable opportunities for solution development, pilots, proofs of concept, and follow-on services.

·   Coordinate with delivery leaders to ensure proposed architectures are realistic, supportable, and aligned to available talent and partner capabilities.

Capture, Proposal & Growth Support

·   Support capture managers and growth leaders in developing technical win themes, discriminators, solution strategies, teaming approaches, and technology-partner alignment.

·   Lead or support technical and management volume storyboarding, solution writing, graphics development, compliance reviews, and color-team activities.

·   Develop solution staffing concepts, key-personnel requirements, transition approaches, technical management structures, and basis-of-estimate inputs with pricing and operations.

·   Assess RFI/RFP requirements and quickly identify technical gaps, solution risks, required partners, and potential differentiators.

·   Work with other solution architects to develop comprehensive, winning solutions and proposals.

Digital Infrastructure & VMware Ecosystem

·   Partner with Broadcom/VMware technical teams and other strategic technology partners (AWS, RegScale, SpectroCloud, and VAST Data) to develop customer-ready architectures, migration approaches, adoption plans, and implementation concepts.

·   Incorporate VMware and VMware Cloud Foundation capabilities into broader enterprise architectures, including virtualization, private cloud, networking, storage, automation, Kubernetes/container platforms, and workload modernization.

·   Understand how VMware/VCF environments integrate with hyperscale cloud, data platforms, AI workloads, cybersecurity tooling, and enterprise operations.

·   Help position CALIBRE professional services around architecture, migration, implementation, optimization, and ongoing technical account support.

required Experience

·   Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data/Analytics, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.

·   8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, cloud integration, systems integration, data platforms, infrastructure modernization, technical consulting, or solution architecture.

·   Demonstrated ability to architect solutions spanning multiple technical domains rather than a single product or platform.

·   Strong understanding of hybrid cloud and enterprise infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, virtualization, identity, security, and platform services.

·   Experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP and common cloud integration/modernization patterns.

·   Working knowledge of VMware technologies and VMware Cloud Foundation, or closely related private-cloud/virtualization platforms with the ability to rapidly deepen VCF expertise.

·   Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executives, program leaders, engineers, capture teams, and government customers.

·   Experience producing proposal-ready technical content, architecture diagrams, solution narratives, and implementation approaches.

·   U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain applicable federal suitability or security clearance.

PREFERRED

·   Experience supporting Federal Civilian, Defense Health, VA, HHS, DHS, or other federal mission environments.

·   Working knowledge of enterprise data architectures, data integration, APIs, data pipelines, analytics platforms, and the infrastructure required to support AI/ML workloads.

·   Experience with modern data platforms and ecosystems such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, AWS data services, Azure data services, or comparable platforms.

·   Knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, NSX, vSAN, Aria/automation, Tanzu/VKS, or adjacent private-cloud technologies.

·   Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, APIs/microservices, DevSecOps, infrastructure as code, observability, and automation technologies.

·   Experience working with OEMs, cloud providers, software partners, and systems integrators in joint solution development and co-sell environments.

·   Relevant certifications such as AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware VCP/VCAP, TOGAF, Kubernetes, Databricks, Snowflake, ITIL, or similar architecture/platform certifications.

SUCCESS PROFILE

·   Thinks across the full enterprise stack—from infrastructure through cloud, data, AI, applications, security, and operations.

·   Can move comfortably between customer discovery, whiteboard architecture, capture strategy, proposal development, and delivery handoff.

·   Knows enough across multiple technology domains to lead the solution while bringing in deeper SMEs where required.

·   Balances technical ambition with executable staffing, transition, cost, risk, and operational realities.

·   Builds trusted relationships with customers and technology partners and identifies follow-on solution opportunities from technical discussions.
