CALIBRE Systems, Inc., an Employee-Owned Management Consulting and Digital Transformation company, is seeking a Senior Employment Navigator for DOL TAP (Department of Labor Transition Assistance Program).  Each year, an estimated 200,000 servicemen and women separate from the United States military; resulting in new Veterans returning to civilian life.  The Senior Employment Navigator can assist military personnel in their transition to civilian occupations and provide individual counseling on the job search process. Employment Navigators would be expected to assess the transitioning Servicemember and/or transitioning spouse’s acquired skills via tools/software provided and assist with career exploration and translating their military experience desired by future employers.

In this role, you will:

  • Listen to Service Members, analyze their expressed needs, suggest solutions, and action plans.
  • Provide job search guidance and career advice; assure the TSM understands and can access available resources.
  • Assist with job matching of vacancy postings, with TSM’s skills and work requirements.
  • Provide labor market information, identify companies and industries in specific areas, capture skills and experience required in certain areas, and offer advice on how to apply for jobs.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of the current labor market information.
  • Provide resume and cover letter advice.
  • Assist with training and mentoring other TAP career counselors as well as possess the sound organizational and positive leadership skills for site management support.
  • Connect Transitioning Service Members and/or spouses to DOL government and non-government partners as well as American Job Centers/State Workforce Agencies based on the Service Member and/or spouses needs.

 

Required Skills

  • Possess comprehensive understanding of challenges facing the Transitioning Service Member population as it pertains to employment and economic opportunity.
  • Knowledge of the civilian workplace, translating military skills/language, assessing job market, and researching/interpreting job requirements
  • The ability to communicate effectively with military clients, be observant of others, comfortable with one -on-one engagements, and respond to enquiries independently
  • Excellent time management skills and able to work independently
  • Be proficient in MS Windows and Office
  • Able to travel as needed

required Experience

Required Experience:

  • Experience which demonstrates understanding of private and public sector employment processes
  • Three years of employment counseling or career counseling experience

·    Previous experience which demonstrates an understanding of recruitment, hiring, and effective job-seeking skills in private and public sectors

·       Knowledge of military culture and experience working with military personnel is a plus

Required Education:

  • Associate’s degree
  • High School diploma and four years of experience working as a Workforce Solutions, Workforce Development, Career Counselor, Human Resources (HR) Specialist and/or experience in employment counseling, vocational counseling, guidance, placement counseling, rehabilitation counseling or educational counseling.
